Solaris Jumpstart Resources
This directory contains some information and tools related to the Solaris
Jumpstart facility. Jumpstart is a mechanism which allows organizations
to automatically configure large networks of largely similar Solaris systems.
Complete information on Jumpstart can be found in the
Solaris
Advanced Installation Guide.
What's Available Here
- The PDF version of a two-hour Solaris
Jumpstart Basics presentation that I give at various technical
conferences.
- The Solaris Jumpstart Basics presentation discusses a tool
called clone for rapidly deploying multiple copies of a single
system image via the Jumpstart environment. The clone tool
is available for download, and further
information can be found here.
- The Solaris Jumpstart Basics presentation also talks about
a couple of other scripts which are available here.
- I'm the primary author and maintainer for the
Solaris
Security: Step-by-Step guide which is published by
The SANS Institute. I've created a
custom Jumpstart environment for automatically performing the majority
of steps from the Step-by-Step guide, and you can find more
information about these tools here.

I hope you find some of this information useful. If you happen to come
across additional Jumpstart-related resources, I'd be happy to include
links to them from this page.
